When the Coma Recovery Association began in 1980 treatment of coma patients was almost nonexistant. We brought many of our patients home for love, companionship and the best care possible.
A similar need for treatment brought us together. The coma recovery program has been effective for a substantial percentage of our organization's members. This program is based on stimulation of the senses (smell, taste, feeling, sound, ... ) and "mobility patterning".
Coma recovery expectations are usually based upon the types and degrees of injuries, the level or lack of brain activity and age. An article republished on this site mentions a fifty percent recovery rate for long-term coma patients ( utilizing hyperbaric oxygen treatments ). There is no guarantee for success with coma treatment. Learn all that you can.
Special facilities and coma / brain injury professionals are in many areas these days, and we can inform you of the options available. The CRA is a member supported not-for-profit organization. We are not a facility or a for-profit health corporation. This means that we are non-biased with our assistance. Our past experiences, not profit, are what guides us.
While research efforts have been beneficial to some, many of us are still hoping and waiting for our solution. What happens after coma (post-coma) is another important aspect and concern of the CRA. Much of our time is spent looking for new technologies, medicines and methods. Please share with us what's new - "where, why and how it works or who does it" - that information might help someone. We are always looking for information to share.
Getting our people out of coma, resolving their post-comatose problems and then helping them to achieve
the best lives possible is our main mission. We have assisted numerous health-care facilities with their
implementation of the coma stimulation/recovery program. The CRA has been a source of help and inspiration to
thousands of people during the past two decades.
